A dark cactus rises against a broad, cool-grey sky. Its upright stem and curved arm stand apart from the finer branches gathered below, while soft bands pass behind it. The almost neutral colour leaves the silhouette dominant, with the open sky giving its irregular outline room to unfold.

A tall cactus stands in silhouette beneath long, pale cloud bands. Low branches gather around its base, leaving the central form clearly separated from the sky. The uneven arms and surrounding scrub give this otherwise spare composition a particular, slightly asymmetrical presence.
